Cougars spoil Homecoming weekend with win over Falcons

The (4-3) Chesapeake Cougars visited SPHS and beat the SP Falcons (3-4)  19-15.  The Cougars scored 2 impressives TD's on interceptions off the Falcon offense, a 80 yard return and a 95 yard return for TD.  Chesapeake went up quickly 19-0.  But steady #1 Jack Kenealy for SP booted a 43 yard field goal right before the half to trim the lead to 19-3.

After the Falcon offense took the opening drive down to the Chesapeake 4 yard line, they settled for another Kenealy FG of 21 yards.  Severna Park finally got the offense going and #23 Sal Masuraca rambled in to cut the lead 19-13.

After punting and stopping the Cougars deep in their own territory, the defense came up with multiple stops and forced the Cougars into taking a safety.  This with about 1:18 on the clock.  Cougars 19- Falcons 15.    Cougars punted to #42 Calvin Green who took the ball back into the Cougars territory.  SP had no timeouts and drove the ball on passes down the field.  Stein made several great passes and on a 3rd down and 8, connected with #80 Cole Duncan for what appeared to be the go ahead touchdown!  The referees ruled Duncan down at the 1 foot line.  With 18 seconds left, Stein called his own number on the QB sneak and lost control of the ball fumbling.  Possession turnover, the Cougars ran out the clock for the win.
