George F. Parker, 74, of Severna Park, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on April 11, 2012 after a stubborn struggle with cancer.
He will be missed dearly by his high school sweet heart, Maureen (nee: Fahey) Parker, who was his loving wife of 52 years; his children, Michael G. Parker (Carol Ann) of Millersville, Suzanne M. Parker of Annapolis, Paul J. Parker (Carole) of Millersville, Mollie A. Parker of Pasadena, and Msgr. Adam J. Parker of Baltimore; his grandchildren, Eric, Kyle, Kelly, Katie, and Tommy; and his sister, Josephine M. Lesso and her family of Austin, TX.
George loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing tennis, cycling, golf, yard work, traveling the world and hiking the US National Parks. George was a devoted member of the Holy Name Society and an active member of Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church. He generously donated his time and handiwork for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity.
Born on April 10, 1938 in Wayne, Michigan, George was the son of the late George and Edith Parker. George grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Gilmore Academy, Gates Mills, Ohio and then the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had a productive career in engineering management, then later retired from Black and Decker, where he had patented numerous innovations in hand tools and saw blades.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by his son, Msgr. Adam J. Parker, at 11 a.m. on Monday at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave. Millersville, MD 21108, with the interment to follow in the Church cemetery.
