2hands indie craft market Showcases Innovative Craft and Live Music on Nov. 3rd
The indie craft movement sweeping the nation is now firmly planted in Severna Park, MD, thanks to 2hands indie craft market, which is hosting its fifth market on Nov. 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
2hands market will again take place at Severna Park Community Center's Holy Grounds Youth Center (located at 617 Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard), where shoppers can browse the handicrafts of 40 highly-skilled artisans. The talent also flows on-stage as popular local perfomers croon to the crowds both indoors and out.
2hands market is the brainchild of three local designers, Ally Tierney, Jill Davolio and Carleen Birnes. Their goal is to bring a fresh spin to the traditional craft fair with a well curated market that showcases original design, handmade goods, and innovative craftsmanship, against a backdrop of live music.
"Our area has so many young vibrant artists trying to make a living out of their passion. As members of this community ourselves, we wanted to create a craft market that reflects our creative energy and entrepreneurial spirit," said Jill Davolio, co-founder and exhibitor at 2hands market.
And the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Last year, nearly one thousand shoppers streamed through the doors of Holy Grounds Youth Center, to seek out their favorite designers and discover new ones. This year proves to be even bigger. Artist requests to sell at the market have nearly tripled, spanning from Baltimore to Frederick to D.C. To accomodate the demand, a new outdoor shopping area will be established alongside the deck of Holy Grounds.
The market is also a vehicle for giving back. A portion of proceeds will be donated to House of Ruth of Maryland (hruth.org), a charity that provides shelter and support to women and children victimized by domestic abuse.
